Maury County Remembered: The Gilbert McWilliams Orr Collection
"Maury County, Tennessee has been called 'The Dimple of the Universe' for its natural resources and temperate climate. Each spring, Columbia, the county seat, celebrates "Mule Day," which has become a renowned parade and festival. The late Gilbert MacWilliams Orr, called affectionately "Mr. Tennessee Walking Horse" because of his association with the sport as a well-known horse show announcer and columnist, documented images of his county's distinctiveness, beauty, events such as Mule Day and people in photography and writing. This book is a collection of his work which creates a memoir of small-town and rural life from more than a half century ago that is fast disappearing. With a trim size of 10 1/2" by 7", Maury County Remembered, full of illustrations and photos, makes a lovely coffee table book and keepsake for people interested in Tennessee history, people and places."
